What’s the role?

Our mission is to simplify the complexities of post-trade and we are seeking an experienced global systems manager. This is a unique opportunity to join a small but extremely technical and innovative global systems infrastructure team as the company continues to expand internationally.  The Torstone Infrastructure Group provides the technology platform and information security framework for the firm. 

The Infrastructure Group is currently eight staff, four in London, two in Hong Kong, one in Toronto and one in New York.

The group is responsible for an extremely diverse range of technologies and we are looking for an experienced technical manager with approximately 10+ years of experience leading teams, technical project management and overseeing a variety of business technical activities including Information Security. You will need to be flexible and a quick learner to grasp, adopt, manage and oversee modern Infrastructure technologies and security frameworks.

Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the COO, provide management, oversight, mentoring and guidance to the highly skilled technical global Systems Infrastructure and Information Security team
  • Work closely with senior technical managers across time-zones (Application Support, Development and Professional Services)
  • Account management of key vendors and partners (AWS, Oracle, Microsoft, Google)
  • Client liaison with senior technical managers and staff
  • Oversee the Information Security function, including managing relationships with external Security consultants.  The team is responsible for SOC1, SOC2 and ISO27001 accreditation as well as client Security projects and audits.
  • Procurement and Budgeting
  • Contribute to the global management of the infrastructure of a 200 (mostly LINUX) server estate with a network covering 10+ sites predominantly in AWS.
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of operating system and network fundamentals
  • A passion for automation and a desire to know how computers and networks inter-operate.
  • Articulate, numerate and capable of negotiating high value technical equipment and services.
  • Self-motivated with a desire to work closely with all staff, clients, partners and vendors

Skills and Aptitude:

  • Strong leadership skills and relevant experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrated evidence of strong technical ability by designing, documenting and managing complex systems and procedures
  • Experience in managing Cloud Infrastructure, preferably AWS
  • Understanding of automation, configuration management and infrastructure as code

The Systems team is responsible for the following:

  • Systems Operations procedures / management e.g. handling events, prioritization, and escalation, within a 24/7 follow the sun support environment
  • Infrastructure Management: As well as managing cloud services such as AWS and Google, coordinating hybrid infrastructure across physical datacentres and all layers of virtual and hardware systems
  • Designing, building, monitoring and maintaining secure, cost effective, highly available interconnected systems including all layers of networking, network services, operating systems, databases and applications.
  • Automation of all layers of systems management to allow Torstone to grow at scale
  • Security, user administration, auditing
  • Working with the Application Support and Development teams on second line client support, scaling, performance, testing, troubleshooting, development infrastructure, innovation and architecture
  • Working with clients from presales, through design, implementation and support phases of Application delivery
