What’s the role?

Our mission is to simplify the complexities of post-trade and we are seeking an experienced Product Manager to join our growing product management team in our London office to look after the core accounting component of the Torstone platform. Accounting is a core function of the platform which covers the double-entry accounting sub-ledger, its associated processes such as valuations, accruals, cost of carry, etc., commissions and fees management and position management.

Key Responsibilities include

• The role encompasses keeping abreast of market developments, requirements gathering, liaising with clients to address their gaps and concerns, backlog refinement and working with the development team to deliver the accounting roadmap.
• The right candidate will be hard working and motivated with a logical mind-set that combines analytical skills with the ability to work in a fast paced customer driven environment. The candidate will be expected to conduct presentations to prospects and senior client management and demonstrations as required and therefore expected to be an excellent communicator.
• Whilst the candidate will major in role as Accounting Product Manager, is also expected to contribute more generally to Product Management in related areas and is expected to have a broad experience of sell-side financial markets and technology.

We’re looking for

• Knowledge of global accounting standards and practices pertaining to broker and other financial institutions
• Exposure to a broad range of assets such as equities, fixed income, money market instruments, listed and OTC derivatives and FX
• A deep understanding of back-office accounting processes including: T/D and S/D accounting, valuations, mark-to-market, realised and unrealised P&L, fixed income, loan and interest accrual and accounting, cost-of-carry, etc.
• Exposure to fee calculations across a broad range of markets (e.g. CME Fee Schedules) including incentive and rebate programmes operated by markets such as NYSE
• An understanding of position management requirements in a sell-side post-trade platform: book, client custody, depots, listed-derivatives open trade management, borrow/loan positions, position transformation (e.g. following a corporate action) etc.
• Additionally, exposure to standard clearing and settlement processes for equities, fixed income and derivatives would be beneficial
• Exposure to tax accounting especially withholding tax would also be beneficial
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and software development lifecycle
• Experience with Post-Trade systems or other financial technology
• Experience with liaising between development, support and sales for product direction, QA and Product Release
• Client facing skills (mix of business and technology) including regular direct interactions with client executive/senior management
• Ability to conduct presentations and demo the platform
• Complimentary technical skills such as SQL or programming skills would be an advantage.
• Minimum five years in product management as a Business Analyst or Product Manager
